SAH Steel Bars

Customized Solutions for the Steel Processing Industry
Stahl nach Maß für die stahlverarbeitende Industrie
We manufacture alloy and non-alloy round steel bars, as well as we are the European market leader in the production of bars with diameters of 12 to 40 mm. Tailoring to our customers’ needs and premium quality distinguish our rolled and bright steel products. Our product range of more than 2500 alloys of steel enables us to provide perfectly customized solutions for specific compositions.
Our production range covers standard structural steels, quenched and tempered steels, tool steels and special steels. The manufacturing range includes black, shot-blasted, peeled and polished steel bars, as well as threaded bolts respectively chamfered, center holed and precision ground steel bars in different heat treatment conditions.
Areas of application for SAH steel bars
Automotive and Commercial Vehicle Industry: Components made from SAH steel bars are installed in every European car. These range from gears, connecting rods, and transmission shafts to chassis components like stabilizers, torsion bars, and coil springs, as well as quenched and ground steering racks.
Chain Producing Industry:
SAH steel bars are used to manufacture high-quality round steel chains, hooks, or shackles.
Tool Industry:
SAH steel bars are highly valued in the production of drills, chisels, and tools like socket wrenches or double-ended spanners.
Wind Power Projects:
SAH steel bars serves as transmission shafts or in the form of quenched bolt screws in wind turbines.
Oil Industry:
SAH case-hardening and quenched steels are used to produce pump rods, among other applications.
Agricultural Technology:
SAH steel bars are used to manufacture highly stressed tools for soil cultivation. Bearing steels and free-cutting steels are also utilized in engine and transmission components.
In all these industries, our quality is trusted as the foundation for the safety and long service life of our customers’ products.

Surface quality classes
For the delivery of hot rolled bars applies the DIN EN ISO 9443 . Acc. to part 4.2 “designation” the requirements of the surface condition has to be mentioned in the order. Due to the technical limits of manufacturing and test methods the permissible part of incorrect products in the entire delivery unit must be fixed.
If the order as well as the applicable specification do not contain such a definition, SAH confirms “technical crack free”, if material is ordered with 100% crack testing.
If 100 % crack tested material is ordered, the incorrect part of a delivery (minimum 5 tons) for rolled steel can amount a maximum of 1000 ppm.
For deliveries of bright steel the definitions of the EN 10277-1 applies. The surface quality classes are fixed there.
If the order as well as the applicable specification contains formulations in the sense of: “be free of cracks” or “no surface defects allowed”, then SAH confirms surface quality class 4 according to EN 10277-1 “manufactured technically crack free”.
If 100 % crack tested material is ordered, the incorrect part of a delivery (minimum 5 tons) for bright steel can amount a maximum of 500 ppm.
