Sustainability

As one of the leading steel-processing companies, we consider the impact of our decisions not only economically but also ecologically and socially along the entire value chain. For us, sustainable business practices include resource-efficient and environmentally friendly production, innovative products, and responsible corporate management. Environmental protection measures and energy consumption reduction are of utmost importance to us. Among other initiatives, we emphasize renewable energy efforts. With our two hydroelectric power plants, we can meet up to 50 % of our electricity needs. Through scrap recycling via the electric steelmaking route, Lech-Stahlwerke and Stahlwerk Annahütte already produce steel with low CO2 emissions.

Our understanding of sustainability also places employees and society in a central role. Our workforce is the most important resource in our value chain, which is why we aim to provide our employees with an attractive and safe working environment. We are committed to equal opportunities, emphasize safety and health care, and continuously invest in training and development. Beyond our core business, we take on social responsibility by supporting charitable projects in the region.

How Stahlwerk Annahütte Produces Sustainably

Kindergarten

The First Workplace Kindergarten in the District

House for Children

Balancing work and family – Stahlwerk Annahütte takes a pioneering role in the community and district with the House for Children!

A long-time wish of Managing Director Katharina Eisl became reality. In 2018, Stahlwerk Annahütte, in collaboration with the municipality of Ainring, established its own workplace kindergarten. Owner Max Aicher made the project possible. Through the House for Children, we aim to enhance our attractiveness as an employer and create additional childcare spaces in the community.

The House for Children includes:

  • Two kindergarten groups, each with 25 places
  • A nursery with 12 places
  • Two after-school groups, each with 25 places

It is designed as a place for interaction, with a strong focus on integrating children with special needs. The concept also includes vacation care and coverage of extended hours. Additional spaces for musical early education, toddler groups, and playgroups have also been created.

The House for Children also hosts its own therapeutic practice, approved by public health insurance, offering speech therapy and occupational therapy.
