Client:
Federal Republic of Germany, represented by DEGES

Construction Company:
ARGE Tunnel Trimberg, Hochtief Infrastructure GmbH and
Ed. Züblin AG, Tunnel Construction Directorate

Application:

The Trimberg Tunnel is part of construction section 9 and part of the new construction of the A44 highway. As a cross-connection between the A7 near Kassel and the A4 near Herleshausen, the A44 with the Trimberg Tunnel relieves the regional road network of through traffic and connects the region to the national highway network.

The tunnel consists of two tubes, each 600 meters long, of which 440 meters are driven using traditional mining techniques in cyclic advance. The tunneling passes through the Buntsandstein of the Bernburg formation and is executed using shotcrete construction in excavation and blasting methods. The new high-strength SAS SN anchors are used to secure the tunnel’s excavation cross-section.

The advantages of the high-strength SAS SN anchors, aside from their ease of handling on-site and their length flexibility due to the endless coarse thread, include a 44% weight reduction compared to conventional products, making it possible to manually install longer lengths. Especially in connection with the physical strain of manual labor, the new development from Stahlwerk Annahütte contributes significantly to improvements.

Scope of delivery:

High-strength SN anchors SAS 900/1050 SN Ø 18.6, delivery length 4.0 m and 6.0 m
