The Realp II hydroelectric power plant in the Ursern Valley near the Gotthard Massif in Switzerland is expected to achieve a planned annual production of 9.5 gigawatt hours. The consortium Strabag AG / Gasser Felstechnik AG is constructing the Realp II hydroelectric power plant on behalf of Elektrizitätswerk Ursern.During the construction of the access tunnel, the SAS RG Bolt was used to secure the blasting excavation in the massive two-mica gneiss. The access tunnel, with an area of 11.60 m², was entirely executed in safety class 1. Immediate support was provided by expansion sleeves, while permanent load-bearing capacity was ensured by subsequent cement grouting. The advantage of the SAS RG Bolt system was its ability to combine both support methods within a single system.
